The following article will provide instructions on how to compress large files. If you are attaching a large document to an email, here are multiple ways to reduce the size.
Windows 7 - Compressing a file or folder
- First, find the file or folder.
- Next, right-click on the file or folder you wish to compress > click Send To > click on Compressed (zipped) folder:
- A .zip file with the same name as the file or folder will then be created in the same directory as the original file or folder. An example can be seen below. The icon will look like a folder with a zipper on it, and the extension on the file (if visible) will be .zip:
Mac OS X - Compressing a file or folder
- Find the file or folder that you'd like to compress.
- Right-click (or ctrl+click) on the file or folder.
- Select the option to Compress "...sameple-filename..." as shown below:
