A "URL shortener service" generates a short URL that redirects to a chosen page. In this case, you would use the URL shortener to create a "friendly" link that would redirect to your topic's URL.
A great example of when you may want to use this service is when you are including a Google Form RSVP in a 25Live event and the Google Form RSVP has a very long link. Another example may be you are creating a survey and want to redirect people to your survey with a bitly link.
Steps
- Type: https://bitly.com/ into your web browser
- Paste your link into the window that appears
- Select Shorten
- Copy and Paste your shortened bitly link into your document or site
