Web Hosting: Static Websites (Personal and Club Space) on turing

Overview


Information Technology Services provides hosting for traditional HTML-based sites to faculty, staff and students on its turing.manhattan.edu server. Hosting is also offered to clubs and organizations with a Manhattan College JasperNet Account.  Users are provided with SFTP access to a LINUX-based server for uploading and managing HTML sites.

Getting Started


  1. Download Secure Shell File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) Software from Filezilla.
  2. Set up your SFTP program or web page editor (one that supports SFTP) to connect to community.wvu.edu. Remote Server configuration: 
    Host Name: turing.manhattan.edu 
    User ID: Your JasperNet Username
    Password: Your JasperNet Password
    Port: 22

     
  3. Create a directory for your web pages.  The directory must be named: public_html and must be created at the root of your filespace. 
  4. Set up the attributes for the public_html directory:  Numeric Value:  755 . Toggle on Recurse into Subdirectories.
