How To Use The Remotely Drive Feature

Environment

Windows or Mac operating system. 

Steps 

This allows users to copy files from their local device onto the PC they are connected to while using Remotely. 

 

Step 1: Open File Explorer 

Connect to a PC by logging into Remotely.

At the bottom of the remote computer screen, click the Windows button and then click on file explorer.

Step 2: Open the Guacamole RDP Network drive

On the left of the file explorer window, there is a folder that is named "{username} on Guacamole RDP". Drag and drop any files that you want to transfer from your computer into this folder.

Step 3: Save files to Guacamole RDP Network drive

If a file needs to be saved from the remote computer to your host computer, drag and drop the file into the Download folder located in the folder named "{username} on Guacamole RDP." This drive does not persist across logins and can be deleted after logout.

 

Step 4: Access the shared drive menu on the host computer 

To save files locally to your host computer, press the following key combination at the same time: 

Control-Alt-Shift (Windows) or Control-Option-Shift (Mac). This combination will open and close the menu on the left side of the screen:

In the menu, under Devices, there will be an option for the Shared drive. Click on this option to view the files in the shared drive.

To download a file to your computer, simply click on the file you want to download, and it will start downloading through your browser.

 

Step 5: Uploading documents through the shared drive menu from the host computer

To upload files to the shared drive, click the Upload Files button. The uploaded files can be accessed on the remote desktop through the Guacamole RDP Network drive in step 2 and 3 outlined above.
