Transfer Ownership of a Folder or File in Google Drive

This article reviews how to transfer ownership of a folder or file in Google Drive.

Environment

Google Drive in a desktop browser.

Steps

  • Click the three dot menu to the right of the folder or file you wish to transfer ownership.
  • Click Share
  • Click Share

  • Click the drop down to the right of the person you wish to transfer ownership to.
  • Click Transfer ownership.

  • Click Yes
