How to Create Templates in Outlook on the Web

About

In this article we will review how to create and utilize templates in Microsoft Outlook on the Web.

Environment

Microsoft Outlook on the Web in a desktop browser.

Steps

  • Create a new message in Microsoft Outlook on the Web.
  • At the top, click the Message tab to update the ribbon options.
  • Click on the Apps icon, which looks like four squares inside a larger square.
  • Click My Templates, which looks like a piece of paper with a lightning bolt.
  • This will bring up the templates app on the right.
  • Click + Template to add a new one or click an existing template to add it to the body of your message.

  • Enter a title for your message so that you can quickly find it.
Hint: (Note the title is not the subject of your message, just the title of your message. You will need to manually add the title after the template is added to the body of the message. An idea is to add the title to the top of your template so that you can easily copy and paste it into the email subject once you apply the template.)
  • Enter your message body in the area below.
  • Click Save.

  • Your new message will now show in the template list.
  • To apply a template to a message, simply click on it.
