Mac OS X - Using Disk Utility

If you have an Apple computer that can successfully boot up, but is malfunctioning in some other way, sometimes repairing disk permissions could resolve the issue. The steps below will walk you through how to do so.

Steps

  1. Open up a new Finder window.
  2. On the left, select the Applications folder (see screenshot below).
  3. Scroll down in the list of applications and select the Utilities folder (see screenshot below).
  4. Double-click on Disk Utility (see screenshot below):

  1. On the left, select the disk that you wish to repair.
  2. Lastly, click Repair Disk Permissions:
