About
Auto Forward Emailing is useful in scenarios where you want one or multiple people to receive emails that are sent to a group email. This makes it easier to see emails that are sent to the group email without having to sign into that account.
Environment
Gmail settings page of the account that you want emails forwarded FROM.
Steps
- Navigate to the Gmail settings page using the Gear icon in the top right corner of the screen and selecting Settings from the drop down menu.
- Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP and select Add a forwarding address. Type in the email address when prompted and proceed. You will be asked to verify the email forwarding if the email is outside of the manhattan.edu domain. If you have multiple people that you would like to add to the forwarded list, be sure to add those forwarding addresses. Be sure to leave Disable forwarding selected. Now select Save Changes at the bottom.
- Next, navigate to the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab and select Create a new filter towards the bottom of the screen.
- In the To field, type in the email address of the email that you are creating the filter with and select Create filter.
Hint: Here you can also type in any additional filter parameters for forwarding an email, for example if you only want an email to be forwarded if it contains certain words etc.
- In the next menu that appears, check the box that says "Forward it to:" and select the drop down menu next to it. From there select the email address that you would like emails to be forwarded to. Select Create Filter in the bottom right of that window. You will now have to repeat Steps 3-5 if you would like to add additional emails to the forwarding list.
