How To Download Microsoft Windows on macOS

This article describes how to download Microsoft Windows on macOS. Additionally you can use Remotely to login to the lab desktop computers at the college and use Windows applications there. Go to this article to learn how to use Remotely on your computer.

Steps

In order to download Microsoft Windows onto your Mac Operating System you need to install Windows 10. To install Windows 10, use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition, which is included with your Mac.

 

Step 1.

Download Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File). Select Windows 10 as the edition and click Confirm. Select the product language and click confirm. Then, click 64-bit download to begin the Windows 10 ISO download.

 

Step 2.

Once the download is complete, launch the Boot Camp Assistant. To launch the assistant go to finder. A new window will open, click Applications, then click Utilities and then click Boot Camp Assistant

 

Step 3.

A new window will open, click the choose button next to the ISO image box and select the ISO file that you downloaded in step 1. 

 

Step 4.

You need to allocate enough storage space for the Windows 10 partition. You can adjust the Boot Camp partition size by moving the Windows partition to the amount of space you want. 

 

Step 5.

Click Install. The Boot Camp Assistant will download the Windows support software, partition the disk and copy the Windows files needed to get started. A new window will pop up asking you to enter your administrator password. After you enter your password the computer will reboot into Windows setup. 

 

Step 6.

When the computer is finished rebooting you will see the Windows logo and then the Windows Setup screen. Select the language, location based settings and click next

 

Step 7.

The next screen is the Activate Windows box. If you have a Windows 10 product key, enter it and click next. If you don't have a Windows 10 product key click I don’t have a product key and then select Windows 10 Home and follow the on screen instructions. 

 

Step 8.

The installation process can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. Once installation is complete your Mac will automatically reboot. After reboot the Windows logo will appear again, follow the on screen instructions to set up. 

 

Step 9.

After installation and set up you will be taken to the Windows 10 desktop. On the Welcome to Boot Camp installer box, click Next and accept the terms of the license agreement. Click Install to continue the installation. Once the installer completes, make sure the Restart System box is checked, and click Finish to reboot your machine.

 

Step 10.

Once the computer is rebooted, click the Wi-Fi icon on the bottom right of the screen and connect to your Wi-Fi network.

To activate your Windows 10 Product Key click Start, Settings, Update & Security, Activation and then click Change product key and enter your product key.
