Steps to Disable Random MAC Address

Issue

You are having trouble connecting to Secure Jaspernet WiFi.

Your device constantly asks to re-authenticate even though you are within the 24 hour time period.

Environment

Resolution

Disable random hardware addresses:

For Android devices (Android 10 and later):

  1. Open Settings: Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Network & Internet: Tap on Network & Internet or Connections (Samsung).
  3. Wi-Fi: Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Network Settings: Tap the gear icon next to Jaspernet.
  5. View More/Advanced: If you don't see Privacy options, tap View More or Advanced.
  6. Privacy/MAC Address Type: Tap on Privacy or MAC address type.
  7. Use Device MAC: Select "Use device MAC" or "Fixed MAC" to turn off randomization.
  8. Reconnect: The Wi-Fi may briefly disconnect and reconnect to apply the change.

For most modern Apple/MacOS devices:

  1. Open Settings: Open your Settings app.
  2. Wi-FI: Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Network Settings: Tap the information icon next to Jaspernet.
  4. Use Device MAC: Under Private Wi-Fi Address, change from "Rotating" to "Fixed"
  5. Reconnect: The Wi-Fi may briefly disconnect and reconnect to apply the change.

For modern Windows devices (Windows 10 & 11):

  1. Open Settings: Search Settings in the search bar.
  2. Wi-FI: Tap Network and Internet → Wi-Fi
  3. Use Device MAC: Scroll down and turn "Random Hardware Addresses" from ON to OFF
  4. Reconnect: The Wi-Fi may briefly disconnect and reconnect to apply the change.
