Fixing Broken File Paths - Mac

Issue

In the event that a file path is broken, usually when the original file is moved or deleted, it will cause the shortcut to become broken. This article will explain how to fix the file paths so that the shortcut will work.

Example of how to change the path name of a file in Mac:

Hint: Your folder structure will look different than what is shown in this image:

From the original file, navigate to the folder that you have made a shortcut to in your sidebar.

Right click on the the Folder and then select Get Info to get the path information.

 

Image will display the exact file location. Record the file address and use this information to locate the original file and you can create a new shortcut and remember to delete this (broken) shortcut.
