How to Add a Second Device to your Duo Account


If you would like to add a secondary device to your Duo MFA account, such as a work phone or tablet, you must always add that device as a Tablet. This is because a phone number is already attached to your Duo account if you have one device on it, so you will not be able to add a second phone number to the account. Make sure that you add secondary phones as Tablets, and that you have Duo Mobile installed on your device prior to beginning this process.

  1. If you have your Duo saved so it doesn't always come up or if you are not sure, make sure to follow these steps in Incognito Mode
  2. Depending on your setup, you may get the initial prompt to which you should click cancel.
  3. Now click other options.

  1. Click Manage devices

  1. Authenticate duo as you would normally.

  1. All of your devices are displayed. If any look suspicious, remove them by clicking Edit followed by delete and follow the prompts.
  2. If you wish to rename any of your devices, do so by clicking Edit and Rename and follow the prompts.
  3. To add a Device, click Add a device

  1. Select Duo Mobile

  1. Click I have a tablet even if this is a phone, since it is a second phone, you will need to add as a tablet.
