Microsoft Office 365 - Free install on up to 5 personal devices


Note: If you are a faculty member and would like Office 365 installed on your FLI laptop or office desktop, we have a different license for Manhattan College owned devices. Please visit one of our Client Services offices or email its@manhattan.edu to make an appointment.


This article walks you through the process of acquiring Microsoft Office 365 for free for up to 5 of your personal devices.

  1. First, navigate to the appropriate website listed below:
  2. Scroll down a little bit and click on the green box that says "Get started for free" (see screenshot below):
  3. On the next screen, enter your email address and click on "Sign up >". This will generate a verification email that will be sent to the email address you entered.
  4. Find that verification email and click on the "Complete Office 365 Education signup" link to complete the process of verifying your email address.
  5. On the next page, enter your first and last name and then create a password for your account.
  6. That's it. You're all signed up. You will be redirected to your new Office 365 account portal. At the home page of your Office 365 portal you will see links to all of your Office 365 apps. You will also see a link that says "Install now":

    The website senses what type of device you are on and downloads the appropriate version of Office. If you log into the portal from a computer with a different operating system, it will offer you the appropriate version for that operating system.

You can now log into your Office portal on any device and install Office 365 on up to 5 personal devices. Enjoy!
